Kubeapi is the primary management componenet in Kubernetes When a kubectl comman dis invoked it is first authenticated and then validated by kubeapi server. It then reaches to etcd cluster and sends the relevant information back.
kubectl get nodes
The workflow is applicable when queries are raised via apis
The kubeapi server has following functionalities:
- Authenticating users
- Validate Request
- Retrieve data
- Update ETCD (Only component that directly interacts with ETCD)
- Scheduler
- Kubelet
If installed using kubeadm, the kuberapi server is installed by default. In case, k8 is mannually installed, the binaries if kuberapi server needs to installed and configured
